Happy Purim's Day

Two generations ago, a nation attempted to wipe the Jews off the face of the earth. Purim is a holiday that takes us back to the first time in history such a genocide against the Jews had been attempted – some 2,300 years ago.
The holiday of Purim marks the Jews’ salvation from the plot of Haman, a high officer of the Persian Empire, an advisor to King Achashveirosh. Haman’s rage against the Jews was incited by the failure of a single Jew, Mordechai, to bow before him as he passed by. Rather than seeking to do away with Mordechai alone for this slight, Haman plotted revenge against Mordechai’s entire people. Haman sought, and gained, permission from King Achashveirosh to do as he pleased against the Jews, and Haman took this license and ran with it. He legislated a pogrom that would wipe out every living Jew in the empire on a single, blood-soaked day.

Haman’s message was unmistakable: A casual roll of the dice would seal their end, while the Jews’ God would stand helplessly by.

In an act laden with symbolism, Haman cast lots to find the day upon which he and his minions would destroy the Jews. In leaving the day of the Jews’ demise entirely up to chance, Haman’s message was unmistakable: The Jews, who believed in the providence of a beneficent God, a being they heralded as Master of the Universe – these Jews would be subject to the blind whim of fate. A casual roll of the dice would be the instrument that seals their end, while the Jews’ God would stand helplessly by.
Haman’s challenge came at a crucial point in history. Seen in its largest sense, Haman’s provocations were a test, as it were, of whether Divine influence would still be felt at the close of a grand era of Biblical history. It was a test of whether God was still relevant in a new and vastly different age – an age when miracles no longer prevailed, an age of what we might call “normalcy.”
The events of Purim took place at twilight of Biblical history. The last of the Bible’s prophets had been heard from, and with them, an era in which open miracles would sometimes dramatically alter the course of history, had come to an abrupt end. Earlier in history, when the Jews left Egypt, plagues from heaven descended upon the Egyptians. The Sea split to allow the Jews to pass. Manna sustained them in the desert. A pillar of fire led them through the wilderness. But now, that era was coming to a close. There were no prophets anymore. There were no miracles anymore. In this new era, a harsh question would face humanity. In a world where Divine intervention and prophetic communication are no longer apparent, is God still relevant?
It was in this context that Haman’s roll of the dice was particularly terrifying. With God in the background and miracles laid aside, could there by any meaningful way in which the Divine Will continued to operate in the world?

Coincidence?

In the end, the Jews were saved from Haman’s plot – but, pointedly, they were saved in a non-miraculous fashion. In the events of Purim, serendipitous happenings conspired to bring about unexpected results. Alone, each of these events could be seen as nothing more than fortuitous coincidence. But taken together, were they still the work of coincidence?
The king happened to do away with his first queen – and happened to replace her with Esther, a girl who happened to be a Jew. Mordechai, Esther’s relative, happened to overhear, and foil, an assassination plot against the king. It also so happened that he was not rewarded immediately for that deed. One night, Haman decided to go to the king to get permission to hang Mordechai. But that very night, the king had insomnia and couldn’t fall asleep. He asked for the Book of Records to be read to him -- and the book just happened to open to the page recording Mordechai’s long forgotten act of loyalty towards him.
All of these apparent coincidences conspire to save Mordechai – and ultimately the rest of the Jews, as well – from imminent demise.

When God is Hidden

The Scroll of Esther – the book that tells of the miracle of Purim – has the distinction of being the only book of the Bible that does not mention the name of God. It may seem strange for an entire book of the Biblical canon to avoid mention of the Almighty; after all, if the Bible isn’t about God, what is it about? But that’s the whole point. The message of the Book of Esther is that God is there even when He doesn’t seem to be there. God’s presence in History is felt not just when the sea splits or when divine fire descends upon a mountaintop in full view of an entire nation. These fireworks are nice, but they aren’t the be-all-and end-all of Divine influence in the world. God is present in the everyday workings of life and history as well.

The message of the Book of Esther is that God is there even when He doesn’t seem to be there.

God’s Will is present not just when the laws of nature are suspended. To the contrary, the very workings of these laws are manifestations of the Divine. Every time a falling body adheres to the inverse square law of gravitational attraction; every time molecules dissipate in space in consonance with the second law of thermodynamics; every time a river flows downstream – every time these things happen, God’s Will is done in the world. And so it is with history. It is not just when plagues free the slaves of Egypt that God works in history; God’s influence is more subtle than that. He can be present, mysteriously, in the smallest and least obtrusive of ways.
Chekhov once said that if a rifle lies above the mantle in Act I of a play, it had better go off before Act III. The mark of a good playwright is that no plot element is superfluous. Everything, ultimately, gets used. And the same goes for the Great Playwright in the Sky. Everything we humans do “gets used” in the play we call life. But not necessarily in the way we imagine, or design.
The king asks Haman how the man the king wishes to honor should be treated. Haman, thinking the king wishes to honor him, advises making a royal parade. Does that advice get used? It surely does. But it is used to honor Mordechai, not Haman. Haman constructs a gallows to hang Mordechai. Does that gallows get used? It certainly does. But not the way Haman imagined. He himself is hanged on those gallows.
We all have choices to make. The making of those choices is up to us human beings; that is how we cast our lots in life. But what happens after we cast our lot – that is no longer up to us. One of the messages of Purim, is that God is very much around, even when He remains behind the scenes. Without the fanfare of miracles, in the space between human choice and ultimate result, the Master of the Universe will yet have His say.

PURIM: Turning Sadness into Joy!

What is Purim all about?

The festive holiday of Purim commemorates Israel's salvation from extermination by the mighty Persian Empire, some 2500 years ago. Jews in Israel and all over the world celebrate Purim on the 14th day of Adar (this year March 8th) as a time of "Light, Gladness, Joy and Honor for the Jewish people" (Esther 8:16).

Purim is a classic story of deep-rooted anti-semitism, pitting a powerful ruler (King Ahasuerus) and his vicious, arrogant advisor (Haman) against the Nation of Israel. Plans were drawn up for the "final solution" - wiping the Jews off the face of the earth. The word "Purim" means lottery - referring to the method used to determine the fateful day set aside for the annihilation of the Jews.

A Complete Turnaround

Through a series of seemingly "random", coincidental events, a prominent Jewish leader named Mordecai and his young cousin Esther (who was chosen to be the queen), orchestrated a complete turnaround of events resulting in the destruction of Haman and the survival and prosperity of the Jewish nation.

As recorded in the Book of Esther (9:1) "And it was turned around, the Jews prevailed over their enemies". This day was set aside as a special day of feasting and celebration for the Jewish people.

Why is God's name hidden?

The Book of Esther is unique in that the name of God does not appear anywhere in the scripture. This was intentional, to teach us a very powerful lesson: All of those "random events" were actually hidden miracles – no less miraculous than the Ten Plagues and the Splitting of the Sea! Although sometimes God appears to be "hidden", we recognize that He controls world events. Nothing is random.

In fact, Esther's name in Hebrew means "hidden", as in "And I will surely hide ("as-thir") My face on that day… " (Deuteronomy 31:18). And that is why Jewish children (and adults too!) "hide" their faces by wearing masks and dressing up in all sorts of costumes. The message is clear: God may be hidden but we know that He is there!

How do we celebrate today?

To publicize the miracle, Jews read the "Megillah" (the Book of Esther) all over the world. And since the Jews were saved from physical destruction, the celebration is replete with "physical" activity – eating, drinking, singing and dancing. As expressions of friendship and unity, we "send delicacies to one another and gifts to the poor." (Esther 9:22).

In every generation there is another Haman – out to destroy the Jewish nation. Whether it's Hitler or Ahmadinejad – and the list goes on – those who curse Israel are doomed to destruction. And those who bless Israel will forever be blessed… (Genesis 12:3). As God's exalted nation, Israel will survive and prosper – this is the true celebration of Purim!

Modern Day 'Hamans'

Today, Israel finds itself surrounded by tens of thousands of modern day "Hamans", otherwise known as the "freedom fighters" of Hezbollah and Hamas. These groups, along with the evil Iranian dictator, open calling for the destruction of Israel.

Since its independence in 1948, Israel has suffered from acts of terror in the form of suicide bombings, drive-by shootings, rocket attacks and much more. While thousands of Israelis have been killed, many more victims of terror suffer daily from deep physical and emotional scars. Young children, teenagers and adults who have lost loved ones often suffer in silence.

Take Action For Israel 8

Dear Friend,

An Iran armed with nuclear weapons would be an unacceptable threat to both Israel and America. And for years we’ve been asking our leaders to prevent this.

Yet they still don’t get it! Earlier this month, General George Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that, “we are of the opinion that Iran is a rational actor.” Such talk implies that we might be able to live with – and contain – a nuclear Iran.

At the end of January, President Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, acknowledged that Iran is pursuing nuclear “capabilities.” But then he added that, “We do not know, however, if Iran will eventually decide to build nuclear weapons.” Such talk implies that we might allow Iran to develop all of the parts of a nuclear bomb – the ‘capability” – so long as they stop short of actually putting these parts together.

In response to such continuing confusion, a group of United States senators – led by Senators Lindsey Graham and Joseph Lieberman -- have introduced an important resolution. This resolution rejects any policy that would rely upon efforts to contain a nuclear Iran. And it states that it is in America’s “vital national interest” to prevent Iran from obtaining a “nuclear weapons capability.”

This resolution has 36 co-sponsors. That means that there are 64 senators who have not yet stepped forward to support this urgent clarification of U.S. policy. Rachel is just one of the courageous women in IFCJ sponsored women’s shelters in Israel, who have touched my heart in a deep way.
Rachel, a mother of three, arrived at the IFCJ shelter scared and broken. The brutal marks on her body immediately told the story of her husband’s abuse.

“After one particularly violent act, I knew I was at my breaking point. I came with my children to this shelter and received everything I needed — physically and emotionally,” said Rachel.

Women like Rachel who have no family to turn to during their most trying times face enormous challenges when they make the courageous decision to escape abuse, poverty, and neglect by their husbands.
That’s why I am so thankful that Rachel and her children were able to turn to us in their time of need. Through the kindness and support of donors like you, The Fellowship is able to provide a safe haven for Jewish women in crisis by supporting a network of lifesaving projects designed towards women’s needs across Israel.
The women who come to us are brave and determined — however, they often lack the means to become independent. Thanks to your help, we are able to provide job training courses, legal counsel, and therapy programs designed to give women like Rachel the skills and opportunities to become self-sufficient and provide for their children.

If it weren’t so tragic, it would be laughable – calling Israel an apartheid state, comparing the one true democracy in the Middle East to the oppressive legal system once in use in South Africa. But that’s exactly what the organizers of the annual “Israel Apartheid Week” (IAW) believe. Their event takes place on college campuses around the world beginning early next week, as they seek “to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system.”

Under South African apartheid, black people were subject to laws that controlled practically every aspect of their public behavior and completely segregated them from the ruling white minority. It was a brutal system that thankfully was dismantled in the early 1990s after years of intense internal and international pressure.

The question remains: How could the word "apartheid," which describes an evil system of institutionalized segregation, discrimination, and domination based on race, possibly be applied to Israel? IAW organizers wrongly use it to make the claim that the treatment of Arabs in Israeli society and the treatment of black South Africans under apartheid is similar.

How ridiculous. In apartheid-era South Africa, black citizens were totally disenfranchised and relegated to the status of second-class citizens. In Israel, on the other hand, both Jewish and Arab citizens have equal protection under the law, enjoy freedom of religion and speech, and have full voting rights. Arab-Israeli members are present in Israel's 120-member parliament, the Knesset.

Benjamin Pogrund, a South African Jew now living in Israel who saw firsthand the horrible oppression and misery caused by apartheid in his native country, spelled out the absurdity of this comparison in a 2005 essay. "Two years ago I had major surgery in a Jerusalem hospital," he wrote. "The surgeon was Jewish, the anesthetist was Arab, the doctors and nurses who looked after me were Jews and Arabs. Jews and Arabs share meals in restaurants and travel on the same trains, buses and taxis, and visit each other's homes. Could any of this possibly have happened under apartheid? Of course not."

Sadly, the truth, and real-life examples like Pogrund's, means nothing to IAW organizers and their ilk. Anyone who promotes the idea of Israel as an "apartheid state" is either ignorant or motivated by bias against the Jewish state so intense that facts and truth no longer have any meaning to them.

We’ve mobilized to help fight this blatant anti-Israel prejudice. Be sure to visit our 4Zion website for resources that can help you counter the lies of Israel Apartheid Week. Now is a time for Israel’s friends to stand up and be counted — and that is exactly what I hope you will do today.

There is, of course, real oppression in the world. In Syria, anti-government demonstrators are shot and killed by the dozens nearly every day. Iran's government has done the same to demonstrators who take to the streets against that country's harsh Islamist regime. In Saudi Arabia, there is no such thing as freedom of religion, freedom of speech, or freedom of assembly, and women are second-class citizens under the law.

And yet, Israel Apartheid Week protesters focus their indignation on one country – tiny, democratic Israel. In doing so, they reveal their true motives – not to seek justice for Palestinians or to promote peace, but to defame the Jewish state. Those who use these dishonest, underhanded tactics reveal much about their own hatreds and biases – and nothing about Israel.

Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani

Iran is preparing to move forward with the execution of a Christian pastor for the crime of apostasy. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani admits that he was born into a Muslim family and was taught some of the precepts of the faith, but says he never accepted them. Nadarkhani converted to Christianity – illegal in Iran – at 19. The now-34 year old was arrested two years ago for apostasy and evangelizing and, since that time, has been separated from his family for refusing to recant his faith.
The Obama administration and many in Congress have condemned Iran’s actions and called for Nadarkhani’s release. We hope you will join us in praying for Pastor Nadarkhani’s freedom and for the freedom of all Iranians to enjoy the liberty to follow their own consciences.

Modern Israel: Greatest Miracle Ever?

Exclusive: Joseph Farah chastises Christians who don't appreciate the Savior's Jewishness

If you believe the Bible, as I do, the return of Israel as a nation after 2,000 years is a greater miracle than all that occurred during the Exodus.
That’s what God says in Jeremiah 16:14-15:
“Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
“But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.”
Think about that.
The reformation of the nation of Israel 64 years ago and the ingathering of dispersed Jews from all over the world is a greater miracle than all of the following:

the parting of the Red Sea;
the manna from heaven;
the water from rocks;
the giving of the law on Sinai.

I don’t think most Christians and Jews in the 21st century fully appreciate what it means to be witnesses to such an awesome miracle.
Sometimes when we read the Bible we scoff at the blindness of the ancient people to what was happening at the time. But I think we’re just as guilty as they were – if not more so.
The miracle of the ingathering is greater than the miracles of the Exodus. That’s not what I say. That’s what the Lord says. And it’s a miracle we have been privileged to experience firsthand. But that privilege comes with a responsibility – a responsibility to recognize what God is doing and to get behind that mighty work.

We have too many Christians in America today who don’t get that. They are not standing with the children of Israel, our brethren whose covenant we experience and share by virtue of bring grafted in, as Paul explains in the book of Romans.
Christians who don’t appreciate their connection to this miracle are Christians who ultimately don’t appreciate the gift of salvation and the redemption offered to the whole world. They don’t fully appreciate who their Lord and Savior is – why He came and that He’s coming again!
They don’t appreciate where He’s coming.
He’s not coming to Washington, D.C., to rule the world. He’s coming to Jerusalem.
When and why is He coming? He’s coming at a time when Israel is facing disaster, and He’s coming to save Israel.
Replacement theology is not only a dangerous theology. It is a shallow one – one that tried to render most of the Bible as irrelevant and portray God as a covenant breaker who changes His mind and even His personality.
But today much of the church is confused about who we are as believers and the rich biblical heritage that serves as the foundation for our faith and our hope.
Some Christians aren’t sure our Savior is coming back at all – let alone that He’s coming back to Israel to save it and preserve it.
Some Christians are confused about whether the modern miracle of Israel is truly a manifestation of prophecy at all.
Some Christians even see more connection between their faith and Islam than they do between their faith and Judaism, even though Christianity makes no sense except in the context of the messianic promise from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
It would behoove all of us as believers to read and study the rich and abundant scriptures dealing with the Second Coming, because I suspect there will be believers unprepared and caught unawares.
Many people missed His first coming because they were looking for a conquering king. I suspect many Christians will not recognize the conquering king when He returns because they will be looking instead for the suffering servant.
What is Yeshua going to do when He returns?
The Bible tells us He’s going to mete out justice. His garments are going to be stained in blood. He’s going to destroy nations. He’s going to enforce His will with a rod of iron.
Are we prepared for that Yeshua?
He’s going to judge individuals and nations, as we learn in Matthew 25. The nations will be divided into sheep nations and goat nations largely on the basis of how they treated His precious Israel.
He will bless those that bless thee and curse those that curse thee.
Our Christian faith – and our very redemption – is constructed on a foundation of promise by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Without an understanding and appreciation of that connection, our faith doesn’t even make sense. Our savior did not just spring up spontaneously one day in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago without expectation. He came as the long-awaited Jewish messiah, the King of the Jews, out of the line of David, and He will eventually rule on David’s throne for 1,000 years in the future.
By the way, He didn’t come to start a new religion called Christianity. He came to fulfill the law and the prophets and offer Jews and non-Jews alike salvation.
If you believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God, you will also acknowledge that when He returns you and I and other believers are going to be keeping the Sabbath and observing the Feast of Tabernacles. We will be visiting Jerusalem regularly – and if we don’t we won’t get any rain. I think some Christians are going to be shocked at just how Israeli-centric our life will be in the millennial kingdom.
How many Christians in America today really understand just how Jewish our Savior and our God really is? He won’t be eating ham sandwiches at the church potluck.
How many of us will recognize Him when He returns?

Khamenei strategist releases document providing legal, religious justification for annihilation of Jewish people.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's strategist provided the legal and religious justification for the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people, in a document published on conservative Farsi website Alef. Reports of the document began to circulate the internet this week.
The document, written by strategy specialist Alireza Forghani, outlined the reasons why, "In the name of Allah, Iran must attack Israel by 2014."

Claiming to only represent the personal opinion of its author, and not the Iranian government, the doctrine was published on a website believed to have close ties with the Ayatollah.
Forghani called the Jewish state a "cancerous tumor for the Middle East" and reminded his readers that "All our troubles are due to Israel!"
"Every Muslim is obliged to equip himself against Israel," he urged, reasoning that if the Muslim world does not attack Israel in the near future, "the opportunity could be lost and it may not be possible to stop them."
The document explained that the war against Israel must be carried out in the name of "defensive jihad" - or the protecting of Islam against aggressors "who want to gain domination over the Muslims and kill them."
It also clarified that although Israel had yet to strike Iran, its occupation of Palestinian lands already justifies an attack as Islam dictates that "the political borders [of the world] cannot divide Muslims and the earth is divided into two parts - Muslim countries and non-Muslim countries."

Forghani pointed out that Israel is the only country in the world with a Jewish majority, using the findings of the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics's last consensus for veracity.
He posited that since Israel requires US and western support in order to attack Iran, the latter should take advantage of western "passiveness" to "wipe out Israel."
The document also provides a "concise description of mid- and long-range ballistic missiles that can target territories of this regional cancerous tumor" and destroy Israel in "less than nine minutes."

Because we have believed, the Lord will count it for righteousness, and He will do what He said He would do.

- He said God’s acceptance of Israel’s repentance will be spiritual life from the dead for the nations. (Romans 11:15)

God’s desire for us is to:

   - stand in the gap for the lost – in prayer,
   - having done all, stand – in prayer with thanksgiving,
   - fight the good fight of faith – in prayer.

Secondly, He wants us to:

- share about the power of God to save – to the Jew first, and then also to the Greek,
- receive the power of the Holy Spirit to be witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.

If Israel Goes Down, We All Go Down!

Anger over Gaza is a distraction. We cannot forget that Israel is the West’s best ally in a turbulent region

For far too long now it has been unfashionable in Europe to speak up for Israel. In the wake of the recent incident on board a ship full of anti-Israeli activists in the Mediterranean, it is hard to think of a more unpopular cause to champion. In an ideal world, the assault by Israeli commandos on the Mavi Marmara would not have ended up with nine dead and a score wounded. In an ideal world, the soldiers would have been peacefully welcomed on to the ship. In an ideal world, no state, let alone a recent ally of Israel such as Turkey, would have sponsored and organised a flotilla whose sole purpose was to create an impossible situation for Israel: making it choose between giving up its security policy and the naval blockade, or risking the wrath of the world.

In our dealings with Israel, we must blow away the red mists of anger that too often cloud our judgment. A reasonable and balanced approach should encapsulate the following realities: first, the state of Israel was created by a decision of the UN. Its legitimacy, therefore, should not be in question. Israel is a nation with deeply rooted democratic institutions. It is a dynamic and open society that has repeatedly excelled in culture, science and technology.

Second, owing to its roots, history, and values, Israel is a fully fledged Western nation. Indeed, it is a normal Western nation, but one confronted by abnormal circumstances.
Uniquely in the West, it is the only democracy whose very existence has been questioned since its inception. In the first instance, it was attacked by its neighbours using the conventional weapons of war. Then it faced terrorism culminating in wave after wave of suicide attacks. Now, at the behest of radical Islamists and their sympathisers, it faces a campaign of delegitimisation through international law and diplomacy.

Sixty-two years after its creation, Israel is still fighting for its very survival. Punished with missiles raining from north and south, threatened with destruction by an Iran aiming to acquire nuclear weapons and pressed upon by friend and foe, Israel, it seems, is never to have a moment’s peace.
For years, the focus of Western attention has understandably been on the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians. But if Israel is in danger today and the whole region is slipping towards a worryingly problematic future, it is not due to the lack of understanding between the parties on how to solve this conflict. The parameters of any prospective peace agreement are clear, however difficult it may seem for the two sides to make the final push for a settlement.
The real threats to regional stability, however, are to be found in the rise of a radical Islamism which sees Israel’s destruction as the fulfilment of its religious destiny and, simultaneously in the case of Iran, as an expression of its ambitions for regional hegemony. Both phenomena are threats that affect not only Israel, but also the wider West and the world at large.
The core of the problem lies in the ambiguous and often erroneous manner in which too many Western countries are now reacting to this situation. It is easy to blame Israel for all the evils in the Middle East. Some even act and talk as if a new understanding with the Muslim world could be achieved if only we were prepared to sacrifice the Jewish state on the altar. This would be folly.
Israel is our first line of defence in a turbulent region that is constantly at risk of descending into chaos; a region vital to our energy security owing to our overdependence on Middle Eastern oil; a region that forms the front line in the fight against extremism. If Israel goes down, we all go down. To defend Israel’s right to exist in peace, within secure borders, requires a degree of moral and strategic clarity that too often seems to have disappeared in Europe. The United States shows worrying signs of heading in the same direction.
The West is going through a period of confusion over the shape of the world’s future. To a great extent, this confusion is caused by a kind of masochistic self-doubt over our own identity; by the rule of political correctness; by a multiculturalism that forces us to our knees before others; and by a secularism which, irony of ironies, blinds us even when we are confronted by jihadis promoting the most fanatical incarnation of their faith. To abandon Israel to its fate, at this moment of all moments, would merely serve to illustrate how far we have sunk and how inexorable our decline now appears.
This cannot be allowed to happen. Motivated by the need to rebuild our own Western values, expressing deep concern about the wave of aggression against Israel, and mindful that Israel’s strength is our strength and Israel’s weakness is our weakness, I have decided to promote a new Friends of Israel initiative with the help of some prominent people, including David Trimble, Andrew Roberts, John Bolton, Alejandro Toledo (the former President of Peru), Marcello Pera (philosopher and former President of the Italian Senate), Fiamma Nirenstein (the Italian author and politician), the financier Robert Agostinelli and the Catholic intellectual George Weigel.
It is not our intention to defend any specific policy or any particular Israeli government. The sponsors of this initiative are certain to disagree at times with decisions taken by Jerusalem. We are democrats, and we believe in diversity.
What binds us, however, is our unyielding support for Israel’s right to exist and to defend itself. For Western countries to side with those who question Israel’s legitimacy, for them to play games in international bodies with Israel’s vital security issues, for them to appease those who oppose Western values rather than robustly to stand up in defence of those values, is not only a grave moral mistake, but a strategic error of the first magnitude.
Israel is a fundamental part of the West. The West is what it is thanks to its Judeo-Christian roots. If the Jewish element of those roots is upturned and Israel is lost, then we are lost too. Whether we like it or not, our fate is inextricably intertwined.

Many women like Rivkah come to us with no education. No occupation. No way to earn their own living so they can escape the economic, physical, and emotional dependence of their abusive relationships. What these women need most is an opportunity.

That is why IFCJ supports a network of women's strengthening and empowerment projects throughout Israel to give Jewish women the skills they need to go out on their own.

The training that Rivkah received made her a strong and confident mother, and within a year she was able to leave the shelter. She now rents a small apartment with her son and started a cosmetic business from home, which allows her to be financially independent – the first chapter in a success story that would have never been possible without generous friends like you.

Unfortunately, for every woman like Rivkah whom we can take into our shelter, there are five of six women and children we can't five refuge to because of lack of space and funds. That is why we are turning to you today for help.

This is no surprise to me or anyone who has been paying attention (yet somehow the media is shocked), but the Palestinians have no interest in peace, and they just proved it again.
After a series of meetings in Amman, Jordan, as laid out by the Quartet for Middle East Peace (the U.S., UN, EU and Russia), the Palestinians have declared the peace proposals dead on arrival. They are especially upset because Israel continues to (correctly) maintain that Jerusalem is the capital city of the Jewish state and will remain under Israeli control.
This is crucial to the spiritual battle taking place. Satan wants the Holy City. He declared in Isaiah 14 that he would rule the world from the “sides of the north”—an ancient reference to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. The Holy City MUST NOT be divided. It is critical to Israel’s survival…it is critical to God’s prophetic plan for the world…and we need to be doing everything we can to support the Jewish people and defend the city of Jerusalem.
I am on a God-ordained fast today for Prime Minister Netanyahu, the nation of Israel, and for you, my beloved partner. I am asking God for supernatural provision. This is the Word of the Lord for you today:
My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.

The battle between the ultra-Orthodox Jews and the rest of Israel's population is raging. "Kfiya Datit" - Religious Coercion is one of the most hated subjects to an average Israeli - especially those of this generation.

   While the ultra-Orthodox don't serve in the IDF, don't work and contribute little to society, they receive billions in governmental aid and try to conform everyone to live by their rules and standards, which, Yeshua said, they themselves are not able to keep.
   So as recent attacks by the ultra-Orthodox are escalating, average citizens all across Israel are starting to make a stand for their freedom. Of course, the Messianic Jews have already been experiencing these attacks for years, and the rest of Israel is just now catching up with the phenomenon. But at least they get it now....
   In the midst of that Israel is in the constant turmoil of facing a war - whether from Egypt, which just elected the radical Islamists to head up their government, and who are threatening to annul the peace treaty with Israel, or from Iran, who might be less than a year away from nuclear capability.
   Needless to say, Israel needs salvation!

NEW YEAR CELEBRATION AT TIFERET YESHUA

   This has become a great tradition for Israel's Messianic youth and young adults.
   On New Year's Eve, December 31, they gather together at Tiferet Yeshua Congregation, coming from all across Israel, to have a night of Praise and Worship.
   Because the opportunities to meet together are so rare (Israelis only have one day of rest a week), each time we can get together and be in unity - it's a special treat for everyone.
   And, of course, what can be better than starting the New Year off in fellowship with the God of Israel? Definitely nothing!

SPECIAL MEDIA SEMINAR

   Our Tel Aviv staff has had a special treat this month. A young man from California, who is a top editor and producer of videos, was invited by Ari and Shira to share his knowledge.
   He gave us a 3-day seminar on how to make production more efficient as well as on how to work on scripts to make them more interesting.
   The producer also helped each of the staff to learn basics of other sides of the production which are usually not a part of the person's field of expertise.
   It was very enlightening and encouraging time for our team. We are praying for God to grow this seed that was implanted so we can realize the ability to stretch our capabilities and talents without limits.

MAOZ UK MOVIE PREMIERE

   On Wednesday evening there was a gathering of about 50 people from different churches at Pointer's School, Blackheath for the screening of the film "Blessing, Curse and Coincidence" hosted by Robert and Carol Higgins. This was organized in conjunction with Maoz UK.
   Stephen Briggs of "Hatikvah" presented the first part of this excellent film. It was accompanied by teaching and explanations of significant scriptures about God's purposes for Israel and the salvation of the world.
   Maoz UK Director, Dan Delap, then spoke about the work of Maoz and the Representative of Ebenezer talked about their work of enabling "Aliyah."

When I began the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews nearly 30 years ago, I envisioned a world in which after thousands of years apart, Christians and Jews would come together in friendship and service.

Among them are Jewish orphans and infants, hungry and impoverished families, and the elderly — including Holocaust survivors. I speak every day with these needy Jewish people on the streets of Jerusalem, in the tenements of the former Soviet Union, and in the isolated villages of Ethiopia. They tell me of poverty and discrimination. And, my friend, they urgently need our help.

Rabbis Ask Evangelicals to Restore Values to America

'No country has lasted when it has become corrupt morally'

Voters in South Carolina – including the large numbers of evangelical Christians and Catholics there – are in the crosshairs of GOP political campaigns as they decide who should run against Democrat Barack Obama this fall.
And they are being asked by hundreds of Orthodox rabbis to think long and hard about their decision and “vote morality” instead of flash and dash of politics or the economy.

“No country, no empire has historically lasted past a certain stage when it has become corrupt morally,” said Yehuda Levin, a rabbi who is a spokesman for the Rabbinical Alliance of America.
The request is coming from the organization’s members, not the organization itself.
He noted that his organization doesn’t officially endorse a political candidate, but he’s warning South Carolina voters to think about the future of the nation.

“By all measuring sticks, Gov. [Mitt] Romney is not at all socially conservative. He is not biblically conservative. I don’t think his positions are in accordance with his own Mormon faith,” Levin said.
“Therefore, our country is now facing a terrible, terrible situation, where, God forbid, we continue this hurtling toward Gomorrah, this decline.”
He said a loss of morality will be followed by a loss of economy, culture and religion.
“We are appealing to evangelicals, Catholics to put as a primary focus, a primary issue even before money, is morality and decency,” he said.
“We plead with you to spread this message,” he said. “Choose a candidate who has lived a pro-family life.”
He also released his message on video:

“We all remember the story of Jonah and Nineveh. The prophet warned that God had decreed the destruction of the city in forty days,” he said in a prepared statement. “America’s fate will likely be determined in the South Carolina presidential primary January 21. The man who the voters choose will probably become the Republican presidential nominee, the man charged with defeating President Obama and reversing the moral and economic freefall he and his allies have encouraged.”
He said Romney’s “basic concern is money and power.”
“In a recent televised Republican presidential debate, Gov. Romney, a dangerous homosexualist, boasted that he will continue to pander to the lowest elements of American society in many areas, including appointment to the (Supreme) court(s),” Levin said.
“Another candidate in that debate took the opposite position. He condemned the murder of defenseless babies, openly defied the rampant immorality promoted in the media, etc., and clearly pointed out the connection between America’s financial and military success and its historical commitment to the biblical principles of jurisprudence and morality,” he said.
“If America is to regain God’s grace and rebuild our ruined economy, it is crucial that South Carolina actively reject Gov. Romney’s previous record and future aspirations. Choose the right man. The man who has lived and shares our biblical values, the moral man with the uncompromising moral positions who will thus bring God’s blessings, once again, to our society.”
He said, “Capitalism alone can not save [America]. No amount of financial tinkering can save a country which is morally bankrupt – that is what we learn from the decline and fall of the great empires of history.”
The group, some 850 Orthodox Jewish rabbis in the U.S. and Canada, serving some 500,000 religious Jews, earlier noted that it was “compelled” to “condemn Mitt Romney’s support and promotion of the immoral homosexual lifestyle and agenda.”
A WND request for comment from the Romney campaign did not generate a response.
The earlier statement stemmed from a special conclave of the rabbis:

WND reported last month about the “Declaration on the Torah Approach to Homosexuality” from dozens of rabbis, community leaders and even mental health professionals.
It states that same-sex attractions can be modified and “healed,” and condemns the “propaganda blitz” that has been launched “to persuade the public about the legitimacy of homosexuality.”
“The media is rife with negative labels implying that one is ‘hateful’ or ‘homophobic’ if they do not accept the homosexual lifestyle as legitimate. This political coercion has silenced many into acquiescence. Unfortunately this attitude has seeped into the Torah community and many have become confused or have accepted the media’s portrayal of this issue,” the statement says.
“The Torah makes a clear statement that homosexuality is not an acceptable lifestyle or a genuine identity by severely prohibiting its conduct. Furthermore, the Torah, ever prescient about negative secular influences, warns us in Vayikra (Leviticus) 20:23 ‘Do not follow the traditions of the nations that I expel from before you…’ Particularly the Torah writes this in regards to homosexuality and other forbidden sexual liaisons,” the statement says.
The rabbis’ statement today cited a new book from Amy Contrada that is called, “Mitt Romney’s Deception.” The book documents Romney’s career promises to advance the homosexual agenda and issue proclamations celebrating homosexual youth pride.

Blaming Obama
It was just days earlier that a former lesbian now running a specialized ministry said Obama is using his worldwide influence “and the financial power of the government” to promote homosexuality.
That’s from Janet Boynes of Janet Boynes Ministries, which states up-front that its goal is to “minister to individuals who question their sexuality or who wish to leave homosexuality. JBM will seek to inform and challenge churches and society about the issues surrounding sexuality and teach how to minister to the homosexual community.”
She told WND that many “young and naïve secularists” are busy following Obama’s leading on his sexually permissive agenda, and the result of that will lead “to the demise of traditional values and families,” she said.
The Obama agenda also “propagates the attack of Judeo-Christian beliefs on a global level.”
But while other ministries are critical of Obama’s pro-homosexual drive – he’s put more homosexuals in positions of power than any other president, opened the U.S. military to open homosexuality and signed into law a “hate crimes” plan that provides special protections for homosexuals – Boynes goes one step further.
“The Bible says that the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10),” she said. “It is his main objective to bring confusion and cause division within the church and he does this by altering God’s truth in such a way that many Christians are deceived if they are not rooted and grounded in God’s word.”
WND recently reported on the policy of the Obama administration to be the new global sex cop and a recently signed executive order that some say is sure to promote “quotas” of LGBT hires for federal government jobs.
WND also reported on the push by various administration officials to normalize LGBT behavior, including the designation of “gender identity” as a protected status for federal jobs.
WND columnist Matt Barber wrote that liberals are “desperate” in their efforts “to dredge up some natural, biological rationalization – of which science has found none – to validate demonstrably unnatural behavior.”
“That’s why we see such visceral hatred on the left for the ex-gay community. From a political and legal standpoint, it’s strategically critical that these same liberals undermine and marginalize the very real-life experiences of untold thousands of former homosexuals,” he wrote. “This mean-spiritedness represents a profound lack of respect for other people’s ‘right to choose.’ Their favorite dig is: ‘You can’t pray away the gay.’ Once you’ve self-identified as – or been labeled – ‘gay,’ you’re stuck with it, you see.
“Ironically, these same liberals will suggest with a straight face (no pun intended) that something that is innate – a person’s biological sex – can change. If you’re a man who, today, feels like a woman, why then, snippity-snip and voila! You’re a woman,” he said.

Therefore, I give thanks to the Lord for you all who have answered the call of Christians United for Israel. Our unity has proven effective in the eyes of God and He has remained faithful to command His blessing over CUFI.
I ask that you consider multiplying yourselves this year by speaking to your friends and family about joining CUFI. It is our desire to exceed 1, 000,000 members by our July Summit in DC. Martin Luther King Jr's Birthaday 2

A year ago, I had the solemn honor of laying a State of Israel wreath on the hallowed gravesite of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King, in Atlanta. The moment was one of profound meaning for me and on several levels.
I grew up in this country during the great struggle for civil rights and followed with pride the historic alliance between the African-American and American Jewish communities, I mourned the loss of both African-American and Jewish lives in that noble cause. For forty years, my father headed a Jewish hospital in Newark. The hospital was originally established to provide jobs for Jewish doctors who were denied work at other facilities simply because of their religion. The hospital later became the first to hire African-American physicians who were denied work elsewhere merely because of their race. In 1967, after the Newark riots, every private hospital fled the city but one. That Jewish hospital determined to stay in Newark and continue to serve its community. The hospital remains to this day with the Star of David gracing its entrance and my father's name inscribed on its emergency room.
Throughout those years, the Rev. Dr. King was an inspiration to us all, a source of hope and wellspring of brotherhood. His assassination was devastating to our community and deeply scarring for me.
Later, writing as an historian of America's centuries-long involvement in the Middle East, I learned about the courageous support of early champions of African-American rights--the Reverend Edward Wilmot Blyden and Frederick Douglass--for Zionism. For them, Zionism--the quest to recreate a Jewish state in our ancestral homeland, the Land of Israel--was no different than the African-American dream of freedom. That same standard of common cause was borne high by the Rev. Dr. King. "Zionism," he said, "is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people returning to live in their own land. All men of good will exult in the fulfillment of God's promise, that His people should return in joy to rebuild their plundered land."
Finally, today, as ambassador, I am proud to represent the a country that is deeply engaged with Africa, in promoting agricultural development, women's empowerment, and health care. I represent the country that was the first on the ground with a medical team in earthquake-devastated Haiti, and a country that is home to a vibrant Ethiopian community.
Israel is the only country in the Middle East to host a Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King memorial--not far from my home in Jerusalem--and the only country to plant a Coretta Scott King Memorial Forest, in the Galilee.
The King legacy is part of our legacy, for we cherish the same values of equality and tolerance, and strive for the same goals of liberty and peace. And so, on the personal, the professional, and the official levels, I feel singularly privileged to be named as the Honorary Chair of this 21st Annual commemoration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King: Anti-Zionism Is Anti-Semitism

Martin Luther King, Jr. possessed a remarkable clarity of vision and purpose. He complemented these attributes with a sound, empathic understanding of the history of human oppression. Dr. King's unequivocal renunciation of anti-Zionism reflected his consistent, courageous opposition to all manifestations of bigotry. Against the backdrop of resurgent Jew hatred worldwide, epitomized by the hypocritical September 2001 Durban Conference on "Racism", Dr. King's candid, thoughtful reflections on the true nature of anti-Zionism are particularly edifying.

Shortly before his death, Dr. King had the moral courage to confront the burgeoning Jew hatred of both extreme leftwing Black organizations, including the Black Panthers and the radicalized Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee, as well as the Black Muslims. For example, during a 1968 appearance at Harvard University, he stated bluntly:

"When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews, You are talking anti-Semitism." [ from "The Socialism of Fools: The Left, the Jews and Israel" by Seymour Martin Lipset; in Encounter magazine, December 1969, p. 24. ].

King immediately recognized anti-Zionism as anti-Semitism- Judenhass - refusing to indulge what he believed was simply another manifestation of the same hatred confronting Blacks. As Georgia Congressman John Lewis, who worked closely with Dr. King during the civil rights movement, observed last year on Martin Luther King Day,

"He knew that both peoples [i.e., Blacks and Jews] were uprooted involuntarily from their homelands. He knew that both peoples were shaped by the tragic experience of slavery. He knew that both peoples were forced to live in ghettoes, victims of segregation. He knew that both peoples were subject to laws passed with the particular intent of oppressing them simply because they were Jewish or black. He knew that both peoples have been subjected to oppression and genocide on a level unprecedented in history."

(AUSTRALIA) Brisbane Attorney-General Paul Lucas says he won’t block a neo-Nazi music festival, set to be held in April.
He has also dismissed calls by parliamentarians for legislative action to ensure the Hammered Music Festival cannot take place.
Independent Burnett MP Rob Messenger is planning to propose a private member’s bill that would force the state government to ban the festival.
The measure, he said, will mandate jail time and up to $300,000 in fines for anyone who organizes neo-Nazi events. He has launched an online petition to pressure both sides of parliament to support the bill.
“We are not in the business of banning people who express moronic, stupid and wrong points of view,” Lucas told the Courier-Mail newspaper in an interview.
“If they want to make total fools of themselves and demonstrate their mentality, then that’s for them. But if they incite people to violence or breach the anti-discrimination provisions… then we will refer the matter for investigation and prosecution. You can’t ban something on the basis of what people might do,” he commented.
This is not the first time the event has been held.
Organized by the Southern Cross Hammerskins and the “white resistance” group Blood and Honour Australia, the white supremacist festival is entering its third year as an annual event. Held for the first two years on the Gold Coast of Australia, this year it moved its venue to Brisbane, the third most populous city in Australia, located in the state of Queensland.

May I be permitted to say a few words to members of the EUSA? I am an Edinburgh graduate (MA 1975) who studied Persian, Arabic and Islamic History in Buccleuch Place under William Montgomery Watt and Laurence Elwell Sutton, two of Britain ‘s great Middle East experts in their day.
I later went on to do a PhD at Cambridge and to teach Arabic and Islamic Studies at Newcastle University . Naturally, I am the author of several books and hundreds of articles in this field. I say all that to show that I am well informed in Middle Eastern affairs and that, for that reason, I am shocked and disheartened by the EUSA motion and vote.
I am shocked for a simple reason: there is not and has never been a system of apartheid in Israel . That is not my opinion, that is fact that can be tested against reality by any Edinburgh student, should he or she choose to visit Israel to see for themselves. Let me spell this out, since I have the impression that those members of EUSA who voted for this motion are absolutely clueless in matters concerning Israel, and that they are, in all likelihood, the victims of extremely biased propaganda coming from the anti-Israel lobby.
Being anti-Israel is not in itself objectionable. But I’m not talking about ordinary criticism of Israel . I’m speaking of a hatred that permits itself no boundaries in the lies and myths it pours out. Thus, Israel is repeatedly referred to as a “Nazi” state. In what sense is this true, even as a metaphor? Where are the Israeli concentration camps? The einzatsgruppen? The SS? The Nuremberg Laws? The Final Solution? None of these things nor anything remotely resembling them exists in Israel , precisely because the Jews, more than anyone on earth, understand what Nazism stood for.
It is claimed that there has been an Israeli Holocaust in Gaza (or elsewhere). Where? When? No honest historian would treat that claim with anything but the contempt it deserves. But calling Jews Nazis and saying they have committed a Holocaust is as basic a way to subvert historical fact as anything I can think of.
Likewise apartheid. For apartheid to exist, there would have to be a situation that closely resembled how things were in South Africa under the apartheid regime. Unfortunately for those who believe this, a weekend in any part of Israel would be enough to show how ridiculous the claim is.
That a body of university students actually fell for this and voted on it is a sad comment on the state of modern education. The most obvious focus for apartheid would be the country’s 20% Arab population. Under Israeli law, Arab Israelis have exactly the same rights as Jews or anyone else; Muslims have the same rights as Jews or Christians; Baha’is, severely persecuted in Iran, flourish in Israel, where they have their world center; Ahmadi Muslims, severely persecuted in Pakistan and elsewhere, are kept safe by Israel; the holy places of all religions are protected under a specific Israeli law. Arabs form 20% of the university population (an exact echo of their percentage in the general population).
In Iran, the Bahai’s (the largest religious minority) are forbidden to study in any university or to run their own universities: why aren’t your members boycotting Iran ? Arabs in Israel can go anywhere they want, unlike blacks in apartheid South Africa . They use public transport, they eat in restaurants, they go to swimming pools, they use libraries, they go to cinemas alongside Jews – something no blacks were able to do in South Africa .
Israeli hospitals not only treat Jews and Arabs, they also treat Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank. On the same wards, in the same operating theaters.
In Israel , women have the same rights as men: there is no gender apartheid. Gay men and women face no restrictions, and Palestinian gays often escape into Israel, knowing they may be killed at home.
It seems bizarre to me that LGBT groups call for a boycott of Israel and say nothing about countries like Iran , where gay men are hanged or stoned to death. That illustrates a mindset that beggars belief.
Intelligent students thinking it’s better to be silent about regimes that kill gay people, but good to condemn the only country in the Middle East that rescues and protects gay people. Is that supposed to be a sick joke?
University is supposed to be about learning to use your brain, to think rationally, to examine evidence, to reach conclusions based on solid evidence, to compare sources, to weigh up one view against one or more others. If the best Edinburgh can now produce are students who have no idea how to do any of these things, then the future is bleak.
I do not object to well-documented criticism of Israel . I do object when supposedly intelligent people single the Jewish state out above states that are horrific in their treatment of their populations. We are going through the biggest upheaval in the Middle East since the 7th and 8th centuries, and it’s clear that Arabs and Iranians are rebelling against terrifying regimes that fight back by killing their own citizens.
Israeli citizens, Jews and Arabs alike, do not rebel (though they are free to protest). Yet Edinburgh students mount no demonstrations and call for no boycotts against Libya, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Iran. They prefer to make false accusations against one of the world’s freest countries, the only country in the Middle East that has taken in Darfur refugees, the only country in the Middle East that gives refuge to gay men and women, the only country in the Middle East that protects the Bahai’s…. Need I go on?
The imbalance is perceptible, and it sheds no credit on anyone who voted for this boycott. I ask you to show some common sense. Get information from the Israeli embassy. Ask for some speakers. Listen to more than one side. Do not make your minds up until you have given a fair hearing to both parties. You have a duty to your students, and that is to protect them from one-sided argument.
They are not at university to be propagandized. And they are certainly not there to be tricked into anti-Semitism by punishing one country among all the countries of the world, which happens to be the only Jewish state. If there had been a single Jewish state in the 1930′s (which, sadly, there was not), don’t you think Adolf Hitler would have decided to boycott it?
Your generation has a duty to ensure that the perennial racism of anti-Semitism never sets down roots among you. Today, however, there are clear signs that it has done so and is putting down more. You have a chance to avert a very great evil, simply by using reason and a sense of fair play. Please tell me that this makes sense. I have given you some of the evidence. It’s up to you to find out more.

Israel is not an Apartheid state nor did it ever run an Apartheid system in the disputed territories. The real Apartheid is in the Arab and Muslim world. I call it Islamic Apartheid. Islamic Apartheid has such an ugly legacy that victimized both non-Muslims and Muslims alike and both Arab and non-Arab alike. It has victimized Homosexuals, women, non-Muslims and even Muslims of different ethnic groups. While it is seen as okay to bash Israel as the "racist Apartheid Zionist regime", it is seen as bigoted, racist and/or Islamophobic to talk about the tyranny and Apartheid in the Arab and Muslim world. Israel was an example of a corporate group who had to overcome several things to enter their promised land. The following spiritual assignment will allow us to move forward into the fullness of God’s plan for our lives as we look toward 2012.
Make a list of old cycles. Now is the time to break from any old cycle that has held your promise and destiny in captivity. Declare that your Passover time of deliverance is now beginning. Ask God for signs, wonders and miracles that will intervene in old cyclical structures of your life.
Be secure in timing. Declare that everything in your past be repaired and restored so that your future can be unlocked. Look up and see the window of heaven that is opening over you. Gain victory in strategic warfare. Do not be afraid to ascend in worship.
This is a time to experience God’s glory. Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Ask God to open your eyes so you can see His glory. Make a list of promises. Even make a list of stirrings that have been in your heart that have never come to fullness. Let His presence direct you into the path of deliverance and pass over from captivity to freedom.
Position yourself for your future. The best is ahead!

God worked a miracle when one poor but generous boy (we know he was poor because only the poor people ate barley loaves) gave what he had…will you do the same today?

Today I’m asking you to be a blessing to God’s Chosen People in a special way. A recently-released study from Israel’s National Insurance Institute revealed that one in five people in Israel cannot afford to buy enough food for good health, and one out of ten is suffering from malnutrition. That’s nearly ¾ of a million Jewish people suffering physical problems because they don’t have enough food! Together we can help meet this urgent need…and we must act right now.

I remember going to bed hungry just before Christmas when I was a child. One Saturday morning I went to the dump to look for food. An elderly man who was also there looking for food gave me a stick because I was scared to death of the rats. My pants had holes in them...my shoes were so small that I had an abscess on my heel. I don't want to close my heart or wallet to the cries of poor children like I was or to the precious elderly Holocaust survivors in Israel who are hidden from sight but whose needs are very real.

Today as you read these words, millions of men, women, and children are at great risk. Their lives could be snuffed out at any moment—simply because they are Jewish. The hatred and anti-Semitism filling the Middle East, and indeed the world, must be countered with the truth and the love of God. I am asking you today to stand with Israel with a special offering to help us prepare the people of Israel for the horrors of the coming war.

God has provided us with an amazing opportunity to do more than ever before to help His Chosen People at this crucial and historic moment. A precious friend of the Jerusalem Prayer Team has stepped forward with the largest matching gift challenge in the 40-year history of our ministry! I have been in Israel during virtually every major battle fought by that nation over the past several decades. I was with the troops during the Hamas and Hezbollah war comforting my people even as missiles flew over our heads to rain down death and destruction on Jewish men, women, and children.

Israeli diplomat friends called me and begged me to leave the war zone—to get out of the line of fire. They warned me, “You could die.” I responded that I planned to die; death would be no shock to me. Until that day comes, I will do everything within my power to obey my Savior and defend my people.

I have seen firsthand that in the south of Israel great numbers of Russian Jewish refugee children do not have bomb shelters in which to seek safety. I can tell you that there will be an enormous need for food, medicine, and blankets.

In Arab countries, Jews will be hanged, shot, and blown up when the war comes. This is especially true in Iran. We must do everything in our power to “blow the trumpet in Zion.”

This is the Word of the Lord for you and me today. Can you imagine what you would do if you knew your children and grandchildren were in harm’s way and a missile would hit their home? I know you would do everything humanly possible to protect your loved ones.

God wants us to do everything humanly possible to protect His loved ones—your brothers and sisters in Israel. Will you stand with me today in support of the Jewish people?

As I prayed about this, I was directed to the Book of Joel: “Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up” (Joel 3:9). “Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand…” (Joel 2:1). “Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room. Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar…” (Joel 2:15-17).

Iran is on the brink of going nuclear, and Israel has no option but to stop this demon-possessed terror regime whose leader has declared that Israel is a “stinking corpse which will be wiped off the map,” and that the Jews are “evil, greedy thieves and murderers…a cancerous tumor...filthy germs and savage beasts.. a rotted dry tree…a true manifestation of Satan.”

More About Hanukkah

Dear Pastor and Friend of The Fellowship,

During Hanukkah, Jews celebrate two miracles. The first miracle is the military victory 2,100 years ago of a small group of Jews, the Maccabees, against a powerful Greek/Syrian army that had invaded and occupied Israel, defiled the Temple, and tried to impose paganism upon the Jewish people. Despite overwhelming odds, the Jews fought fiercely and, through God's favor, prevailed. This pivotal victory was the key to the survival of the Jews as a people and Judaism as a faith.

The second miracle involves a flask of oil. After overcoming the invaders, the Jews set about to purify the Temple during the eight-day Feast of Dedication. Upon entering, they found only one flask of purified oil for the eternal flame — enough to keep it burning for just one day. But, miraculously, the oil lasted eight days and nights until more pure oil could be brought.

This is why Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days, and why it is called the "Festival of Lights." While Hanukkah is a special celebration for Jewish people, it is not a holy day. Hanukkah is not a biblical celebration, either. Hanukkah is not mentioned in the Hebrew Bible — what Christians call the Old Testament — because the events surrounding it took place after the closing of the Hebrew Bible. But it is mentioned in the New Testament: John 10:22 states that the people were gathered at the "feast of dedication" — or Hanukkah — in Jerusalem. Jesus celebrated Hanukkah!

The story of the Maccabees and their courageous stand against foes who wanted to separate them from their faith contains a lesson for Christians and Jews alike. All of us must at one time or another be willing to take a stand against that which we believe is contrary to God's will, even if taking that stand means we have to struggle against great odds.

We may not immediately see the fruit of our faithfulness — in the Maccabees' case, their struggle for victory against their oppressors took years! But in doing so, we know that we are doing what is right and acting as partners with God to fulfill His purposes. And it is always possible that, like the Maccabees, God will bless us with a miracle for our faithfulness.

Millions of Christians around the world tomorrow will celebrate Christmas – attending churches, saying prayers, singing carols and exchanging gifts in remembrance of the birth of their Lord and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth – whose Hebrew name is Yeshua.

Most understand Yeshua, their Savior, was not really born on Dec. 25. I strongly suspect, though I can't prove it, that He was born on Nisan 1 – the new first day of the Hebrew calendar year as established by Moses. That would mean a spring birth – when the sheep are out in the fields and the new lambs are being born.
Nevertheless, Christians will be reading today from the familiar passages in the Gospel of Luke that describe the circumstances of the Virgin Birth – an event like no other in the history of the world.
There have been movies and books about these events. But most have focused, understandably, on the notable obedience and sacrifices of Joseph and Mary – or Yusef and Miriam – in bringing the baby Yeshua, whose very name means "salvation," into the world.
But, have you ever thought about what that experience was like for Yeshua?

We all know how Yeshua sacrificed Himself for us at the end of His mortal life – the excruciating tortures he endured, the humiliation, the death on the cross. But at this time of the year, I often think about the sacrifice He, the co-creator of the universe, made temporarily to give up His omniscience, His omnipotence, His almighty powers and His seat at the right hand of God and to live inside the womb of a young Jewish girl and to submit himself to the protection of an obscure Jewish carpenter.
He literally stepped down from heaven into a fallen world of danger and deception. He even, presumably, had to disengage from His own divine consciousness to become a helpless embryo and newborn baby. He had to be born under trying circumstances following a rough 70-mile walk by his parents from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
He gave up all the unimaginable riches and untold wisdom of the universe to be born in a barn and laid in an animal trough.
But, most of all, try to imagine what it was like sitting at the right hand of the Father in heaven contemplating this idea of becoming utterly helpless and, for at least a period of time, presumably, clueless!
Like any other child, Yeshua was born not knowing how to walk or talk. How many of us would be willing to trade our own lives and consciousness even as adult mortal human beings to re-enter the world that way, again?
That's what the birth of Yeshua represents to me. It is every bit as awe-inspiring as contemplating Yeshua's death on the cross and Resurrection.
We often talk about and ponder the Ascension. But what about the Condescension that took place when Jesus became, first, an unborn baby and later on that day in Bethlehem, a vulnerable little infant who would be hunted down by Herod – who would grow up to die an ugly death on the cross?
Believers acknowledge the sacrifice Yeshua made on Golgotha. But, truly, we ought to consider the sacrifice He made the day He willingly stepped down from heaven in the Virgin Birth, which might also be termed the Miraculous and Mysterious Condescension.

2011 Journey Home Tour group

From November 3-12, 2012 The Fellowship will host its annual Journey Home to Israel Tour. Participants will travel the Holy Land, walking in the footsteps of the patriarchs, the apostles, and Jesus. Scripture will come alive for them as they visit the biblical sites they have read about for years. They will gain new insights into the Jewish roots of the Christian faith, and as so many previous tour participants have told us, their walk with God will truly never be the same.

One of the wonderful things about the Journey Home Tour is that it allows me to spend time with Fellowship friends like you. As we have in the past, during this tour I will share a traditional Jewish Sabbath meal with participants, and discuss the Jewish history and biblical themes encountered in the course of the tour.

In addition, we'll again have the chance to visit Fellowship projects, so that you can see firsthand the lifesaving impact our partners' generosity has on Israel and Jewish people worldwide. When you have served food to a hungry person at a Fellowship-sponsored soup kitchen, seen the smiling faces of boys and girls at a Fellowship-supported children's home, or witnessed the gratitude of new immigrants helped through our On Wings of Eagles program, you view the work of The Fellowship with deeper understanding.

When you come to Israel, you are truly blessed by the experience and you, in turn, are a blessing to the people of Israel, especially now, when Israel continues to come under harsh criticism from many world leaders and in the media. When I see the throngs of Christian tour groups walking the crowded streets of Jerusalem's Old City, or visiting the many biblical and historical sites throughout the country, these criticisms lose much of their sting. For Israelis, it is so heartening to know that we have friends like you who show their solidarity and support by coming to Israel to walk the streets with us, experiencing firsthand the blessings of the country God Himself called "the land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 33:3).

2011 is about to end and 2012 will begin, and November may seem a long way away. But a trip to Israel requires preparation. Because of this and since spaces on the tour fill up quickly, I strongly urge you to register soon. I encourage you to visit the Journey Home section of our website to learn about this one-of-a-kind tour. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) urges colleagues to pass the Menendez-Kirk amendment which if passed would sanction financial institutions that do business with the Central Bank of Iran. The amendment seeks to deny Iran the resources for its nuclear weapons program. "This amendment will starve the beast," said Menendez. As of now, the bi-partisan amendment co-authored with Senator Kirk (R-IL) has 52 co-sponsors -- a high number for this Congress.

They are outside all day and get very cold in the winter, just like we all would!
A special ceremony will be held in honor of the soldiers in which 'Warm Winter' care packages from 'United with Israel' supporters will be given to the soldiers. Personal letters from admirers all around the world will be presented as an expression of gratitude and unity.

The American Democrat Antisemitism

This week we had to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared that any agreement to accept Israel's existence would leave a "cancerous tumor" that threaten the security of the Middle East forever. Netanyahu said that are defamatory statements like these - that prove the intent to annihilate Israel - that give credibility to the need for security and recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.
Mahmoud Abbas for his part, back to Ramallah, and both received a receipt. The Palestinians cheered his speech at the United Nations in which he put out the call history of the Jews to their ancestral homeland, denied Israel's right to exist and promised to establish a Palestinian state racist and ethnically cleansed of all Jews. Some of his fans in Ramallah waved posters with a picture of U.S. President Barack Obama portrayed as a monkey titled "The First Jewish President of the United States"
The fact that both the Palestinian Fatah and Hamas are anti-Semitic racist and should not be surprising that provides a minimum of media attention to the Palestinian and culture in general. Since the Oslo Accords in 93, the Palestinian Authority has used the media, schools and mosques to spew anti-Semitic Propaganda nazista.Sobre identical to their racism, just look at the papers from previous years and see how Condoleeza Rice was described and understand support of the Palestinian massacre of black Muslims in Darfur.
It's amazing how in a world that tries to be as politically correct by outlawing religious manifestations, expressions in favor of banning traditional family, encouraging minorities to impose their will, does not condemn or even criticize these governments racist and discriminatory. Black Americans, bombarded by propaganda from the Saudi proselytizing Muslim 60 years, now sympathize with the Arabs and disregard the fact that black people in countries Arab are second-class citizens, described as "slaves" by whites.
This same Arab lobby has also worked tirelessly to undermine the legitimacy of the Jews and Israel in the world. A public opinion poll in 2008 showed that the hatred of Jews is universal in the Arab and Muslim world. 97% of the public in Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon have expressed hatred of Jews and 75% in Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia.
The sight of Muslims living in the West is not much better. While 7% of Britons said they had an unfavorable view of Jews, 47% of British Muslims have admitted the same. And so it is in France and Germany. You may ask, why is this important? Because despite being 4.6% of the Muslims of the British population, they accounted for 40% of anti-Semitic attacks in the country.
With this kind of opinion that favors a new genocide of Jews in the world, one might think that American Jewish organizations would be working more to expose this threat. But this is not the case. The American Jewish leadership is far more concerned with the influence of evangelicals in the Republican Party than with the dangers of Muslim anti-Semitism.
Last month, a Gallup Poll found that 80% of American Jews see Muslim Americans favorably and do not believe they support the Al-Qaeda . This distorted view of American Jews goes further. They estimated that only 7% of Hispanics and 19% of black Americans are anti-Semitic. The truth is very different. More than 50% of Hispanic immigrants to the United States and african-Americans said they had anti-Semitic sentiments.
But as the Jews, these ethnic groups voted overwhelmingly in favor of the Democratic Party. Evangelicals, on the other hand, support the Republicans. In this surreal world, Democratic voters tend to be much more anti-Semitic than Republicans. This disparity may be due to the same policy choices. The Democratic Party of Barack Obama understand the fear that Jews continue to have evangelicals who for more than 40 years trying to convert them and is now a battle of the demonization of Christians to keep the financial support of Jews to their campaign.
As for Muslims, the Jewish National Council condemned a report by Democratic Congressman Peter King on the radicalization of Muslim Americans say this kind of thing that would hurt the religious tolerance in America . Not to mention his support for the construction of the mosque next to the World Trade Center. In other words, in the opinion of the National Jewish Democratic Council, the mere investigation of the radicalization of Muslim Americans could put Jews in danger.
If the Jews in America are concerned about how they will maintain their loyalty to the Democratic Party, then it is normal they exaggerate the danger that is essentially evangelical Republican. It is also reasonable for them to underestimate antisemitism Hispanic and african-american and ignore the high levels of anti-Semitism among Democrats . It also makes sense they follow the party line and ignore the dangers of global Islamic antisemitism. But nothing, absolutely nothing makes any sense if these Jewish community leaders have been elected to defend Jews from anti-Semitic sentiments and violence.
It is possible that American Jews are simply detached from reality. But it is his duty to educate themselves. We saw what happened 70 years ago when the Jews failed to become aware of the threats that brought the reality to his and his people. Last week Mahmoud Abbas received applause and cheers from all corners for his speech anti-Semitic , Who denied the story of the Jews in their land and condemned the Jewish state for its existence.
This week we Jews have to do a special accounting of the soul, of our actions and our faults. Improving our faith in our people, our laws and to God. With the continued isolation of Israel, and attacks on Jews worldwide increasing geometrically, my vote is that for the coming year, the American Jewish community to face the harsh reality and make the right choices. Let her take the resolution of difficult cross party lines and stand beside those who never stopped supporting Israel and fighting anti-Semitism the United States and around the world.

We ask you to travel this road ahead with us, as we engage online with Israeli unbelievers—to reach them with the Gospel. As we develop leaders in our congregation to take new ground for God. As we empower our Israeli staff to set and reach goals they have never thought possible—with our youth, our children, our publishing, our media.

We ask you to pray, to give, to tell others – simply get involved in reaching the Jewish people with the Gospel.

Recently, a well-known pastor said that one of the most anti-Semitic things a person could do was NOT share the Gospel with your Jewish friends. We agree!

Jerusalem Prayer Team:
The word Hanukkah comes from the Hebrew word which means to dedicate. The Feast of Hanukkah, also known as the Feast of Dedication or the Festival of Lights, commemorates the Jews regaining control over Jerusalem and rededicating the Temple. The temple had been desecrated by the invading Seleucid armies of Antiochus in 167 BC. A Jewish priest, Mattathias, and his five sons (known as the Maccabees) led a revolt and called the nation back to God. He said, "If all the nations of the king's dominion harken unto him, yet I and my sons will walk in the covenant of our fathers."

After the invading armies were driven out of Judea and Jerusalem, the Maccabees consecrated the Temple and rededicated the Holy of Holies. There wasn't enough oil to keep the Temple menorah burning throughout the week-long dedication, but somehow the candles never went out. To me, this story is symbolic of you, God's covenant saint and your commitment to keep the light of the Holy Spirit shining brightly in your life. May that light burn brighter than ever for God's glory during this next year.

But for the hungry of Israel, Hanukkah will be a bitter time instead of a happy one. There are hundreds of thousands of Jews who do not have enough food to eat during the holidays. I remember going to bed hungry just before Christmas when I was a child. One Saturday morning I went to the dump to look for food. An elderly man who was also there looking for food gave me a stick because I was scared to death of the rats. My pants had holes in them...my shoes were so small that I had an abscess on my heel. I don't want to close my heart or wallet to the cries of poor children like I was...or to the precious elderly Holocaust survivors in Israel who are hidden from sight but whose needs are very real.

Today I'm asking you to help the Jerusalem Prayer Team feed the hungry of Israel this holiday season. There is a tragic and widespread epidemic of hunger stalking the nation of Israel. The economic crisis has taken a toll on Jewish families, especially the children. A shocking report revealed that almost 750,000 people in Israel, many of them children, are suffering from malnutrition. My heart breaks when I think of their suffering...and today I'm asking you to help me change that. Together we can provide food for the hungry of Israel; a simple meal that you provide can save a life.

Today as you read these words, millions of men, women, and children are at great risk. Their lives could be snuffed out at any moment--simply because they are Jewish. The hatred and anti-Semitism filling the Middle East, and indeed the world, must be countered with the truth and the love of God. But even if there were no threat of war, the problem of hunger would not go away. I am asking you today to stand with Israel with a special offering to help us prepare the people of Israel for the horrors of the coming war and meet the urgent need of hunger among the Jewish people.

I have been in Israel during virtually every major battle fought by that nation over the past several decades. I was with the troops during the Hamas and Hezbollah war comforting my people even as missiles flew over our heads to rain down death and destruction on Jewish men, women, and children.

As I prayed about this, I was directed to the Book of Joel: "Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, Let all the men of war draw near, Let them come up," (Joel 3:9). "Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand..." (Joel 2:1). "Blow the trumpet in Zion, Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, Sanctify the congregation, Assemble the elders, Gather the children and nursing babes; Let the bridegroom go out from his chamber, And the bride from her dressing room. Let the priests, who minister to the LORD, Weep between the porch and the altar..." (Joel 2:15-17).

International Fellowship of Christians and Jews:
Solomon, Moisey, and Sonya are three Jewish children who are living in heartbreaking poverty.

There is dampness and mildew in their apartment. Their bathroom wall is crumbling and the wallpaper throughout their home is stained with mold. All three children suffer from asthma, but the family has no money for medical care or for repairs to their home.

Seldom is there any food in their kitchen.

Sadly, this family’s story is all too common across the former Soviet Union. In fact, tens of thousands of families are living in unimaginable conditions — sometimes with no running water and only old iron stoves for heat. Parents and children often sleep on the floor with a few blankets and while they struggle to survive the harsh winter temperatures, these people urgently need help.

That is why IFCJ is working so hard to help impoverished Jewish families throughout the region.

Through gifts to IFCJ’s Isaiah 58 program, we were able to provide Solomon, Moisey, and Sonya’s family with food, warm clothes, and winter coats, and also paid the family's gas bill, ensuring that they have heat.

However, as the number of impoverished people continues to grow, more people are lacking in the essentials they need to survive than ever before.

Jewish people in this part of the world also face a dangerous rise in anti-Semitism. Every day they are at risk of violence, discrimination, and religious persecution. Israel's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon explains the historical facts relating to the issue of refugees in the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The video explains the reason there are still refugees after more than six decades is because of Arab leaders' recalcitrance to accept their brethren and the United Nations which created a separate agency with unique principles and criteria. The video also highlights the issue of the Jewish refugees who were forced out of their homes in the Arab world, and were subsequently absorbed by the State of Israel.

Canada Gets Tough on Anti-Semitsim

The government of Canada took an historic step yesterday by signing the Ottawa Protocol to Combat Anti-Semitism. By doing so, it recognized anti-Semitism as a pernicious evil and a global threat against the Jewish people, the State of Israel and free, democratic countries everywhere. As Prime Minister Stephen Harper has noted, "Those who would hate and destroy the Jewish people would ultimately hate and destroy the rest of us as well."
The protocol is a declaration that hatred of this nature will not be tolerated in this country. It sets out an action plan for supporting initiatives that combat anti-Semitism and provides a framework for other nations to follow.
It also sets out a vibrant definition of anti-Semitism which, for the first time in history, links anti-Semitism to the denial of the right Jewish people have to their ancestral home land -- the State of Israel. This, in fact, is what sets post-World War Two anti-Semitism apart from its historic roots. Today's anti-Semitism is all about denial: denial of the legitimacy of Zionism as a Jewish movement to reclaim the land of Israel; denial of a Jewish history in connection to the holy land and, in particular, the centrality of Jerusalem to the Jewish people; denial of the Holocaust (while at the same time accusing Jews of Nazism); and denial of Jews to live free of anti-Semitism, hate and intolerance.
In announcing the Protocols, Foreign Minister John Baird has expressed his government's unequivocal support for the State of Israel. In referring to this week's turmoil at the United Nations and the Palestinian threat to unilaterally declare a state, Baird said, "Canada will not stand behind Israel at the United Nations, we will stand right beside it. It is never a bad thing to do the right thing."
According to Baird, more and more countries are refusing to participate in the UN conference dubbed "Durban III" -- otherwise known as an anti-Semitic hate fest which began as a human rights forum in South Africa in 2001; the forum ultimately degenerated into an anti-Semitic slinging match in which repressive Arab and African countries blamed all the problems facing their own countries and the world on Israel. The governments of France, New Zealand and Poland (today) joined Canada and 10 other western nations this week by declaring they will not take part.
Unquestionably, the Government of Canada's stance on Israel is based on the principle of standing by your friends -- especially when they are democracies and advocates for human rights. Most Jewish leaders would agree that Israel is indeed Canada's greatest ally in the fight against hate and intolerance.
But the fight against hatred and anti-Semitism must be won here in Canada as well. The Ottawa Protocol is mostly the result of a report published this summer by a Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism which was comprised of leading Canadian politicians who volunteered their time to probe the increasing and alarming tide of anti-Semitism in Canada.
In a letter accompanying the report, Chairs of the Inquiry Panel and the Steering Committee Mario Silva and Scott Reid wrote, "The Inquiry Panel's conclusion, unfortunately, is that the scourge of anti-Semitism is a growing threat in Canada, especially on the campuses of our universities." The report cites numerous examples of anti-Semitism on various campuses including the infamous incident in 2009 when Jewish students at York University were chased and barricaded themselves in the Hillel lounge while a mob outside taunted them with anti-Semitic slurs. The list of examples is quite long and disturbing.
Universities should take note of the report and the signing of the Ottawa Protocols. They should put an immediate end to hateful and fallacious events like Israeli Apartheid Week; they should state unequivocally that freedom of speech should not be abused to provide a cover for anti-Semitism; they should ensure that Jewish students feel welcome on campus and that their learning environment should be freed from anti-Israel occurrences and finally, universities must become accountable for allowing their private property to be venues for hateful conduct among students.
The Ottawa Protocol to Combat Anti-Semitism is a template for every Canadian to consider. But it is especially a document of significance for universities that have allowed themselves to become vehicles of hatred and complicit in its promotion. As my friend, Professor Irwin Cotler said last night at the Ottawa signing ceremony, anti-Semitism is not only the longest known form of hatred in the history of humanity -- it is the only form of hatred that is truly global.
Every person of conscience should take note of the Ottawa Protocols and never forget the lessons of the Holocaust when the world was silent.

Fellowship Prayer Points 2

Tensions in the Middle East continue to heat up. In the first round of elections in Egypt, Islamist extremists have captured a majority of votes. Iran continues to defy international pressure in its pursuit of nuclear weapons. Terrorists in Lebanon launched four rockets into Israel last week. And Syria is on the brink of civil war.

In the face of such unrest, please join The Fellowship in a show of solidarity with Israel and her people by recommitting yourself to pray for the peace of Israel as well as the security and well-being of the Jewish people and the world.

Pray for the protection of Israelis threatened by the terrorist organization Hezbollah, which continues to expand its cache of deadly weapons and plan attacks against the Jewish state. Pray for an end to the rocket attacks from Lebanon targeting innocent Israelis. “Hear my prayer, LORD; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide your face from me when I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly” (Psalm 102:1-2).
Pray that Islamic radicals will fail in their bid to take over the Egyptian government. Pray for the preservation of Egypt's peace treaty with Israel. "Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence" (Psalm 91:3).
Pray that Iran will cease its quest for nuclear weapons and its provocations of Israel and the United States. "All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame” (Psalm 6:10).
Pray for Rabbi Eckstein and his safe travels in Ethiopia, where he is participating in the prophetic aliyah of hundreds of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. “Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind” (Ezekiel 39:28).
Give thanks to God for all our armed forces who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. May we never forget their heroic sacrifice, and remember to honor and support the men and women who fight for our freedoms today. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Every day I thank God for you and your support for our lifesaving programs that give blessings of strength and peace to God's people.

It is such a privilege to be able to provide this kind of life-sustaining assistance. However, my heart is also heavy for the many sons and daughters of Abraham who need a compassionate friend like you.

People like Yevgeniya, an elderly woman in the former Soviet Union (FSU), struggling to stretch her $134-per-month pension for her and her family. Thanks to you, The Fellowship has been able to provide Yevgeniya and her family with food, clothing, and warm blankets through our Isaiah 58 program.

Or Rosa, who faced harsh persecution in her home country. Thanks to gifts from our On Wings of Eagles partners she has been able to immigrate to Israel, where she can freely practice her faith.

Sadly, these three stories reflect the heartbreaking conditions that so many Jewish people around the world are still facing day after day.
