• Pray for the success of the Fellowship food program that is working to provide 40,000 Passover food boxes to Jews around the world so that they may celebrate the Passover Seder with dignity. “The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him — may your hearts live forever!” (Psalm 22:26).
• Pray for world leaders, especially Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama, as they make crucial decisions about the dangerous nuclear situation in Iran. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge” (Psalm 1:7).
• Please pray for the safety and discernment of the Israel Defense Forces soldiers as they daily battle to protect Israel and her children. “May those who love you be secure” (Psalm 122:6).

Rabbi Calls Christians to Fight Against the Immorality in Israel

March 23, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Rabbi Yehuda Levin, an Orthodox Jewish leader who often functions as a spokesman for the Rabbinical Alliance of America and the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the U.S. and Canada, is calling on Christian leaders to take a more active role in defending Israel from pro-abortion and homosexual activist ideology.
In a recent interview with LifeSiteNews.com he spoke of “Christian Zionists” who support the state of Israel politically and even economically. Levin said that they are ignoring spiritual issues of great importance in what both Jews and Christians refer to as the Holy Land, including the mass murder of the unborn, as well as the “homosexualization” of Israeli culture.
“The Christians do not understand, the American Christian community of tens of millions, they don’t understand their power,” Levin told LSN. “When they tour Israel and they meet with government officials, when they are taken to holy sites, they should be clamoring and expressing in their leaders, the leaders of the Christians here in America, should be clamoring and speaking out against abortion, against the tens of thousands of abortions, against the homosexualization of the Holy Land, against all of this immoral craziness, and they could absolutely have an effect.”
Although a minority of more traditional Jews oppose these trends, said Levin, they are generally mistreated by a secularized majority, and are receiving little support from other religious groups who share their values.
“While there are tremendously devout people in Israel, Hasidic people, what is referred to as ultra- Orthodox, on the other end of the spectrum, among the irreligious Israelis, we see an eagerness, to embrace Madonna, to embrace Michael Jackson, to embrace all the craziness, and it saddens me that the Christian, so-called Christian Zionists, whether Catholic, or whether Evangelical, those who support Israel do not understand that they have a strength” while “we Orthodox that are treated literally like second-rate citizens in many areas in Israel, many areas of social life, we are frowned upon,” he said.
“If the next time a Netanyahu comes and he is addressing a Christian audience, and the Pat Robertsons and others and the people, most of all the people, were to say: ‘how do you do this? How do you allow these abortions, homosexual parades, and teaching children from a homosexual curriculum? Is this the Holy Land today? We’re shocked, we’re ashamed!’  You know, I think this would have an effect. I think if enough religious leaders, politicians, and Christian tourists spoke out we would see positive changes in Israel.”

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, has called for the immediate dismissal of a Jerusalem based U.N. agency employee who is widely known for her blatant anti-Israel activism.
Khulood Badawi, the information and media coordinator for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Jerusalem, (OCHA), tweeted a controversial photo, on March 10, showing an Arab girl covered in blood laying in the arms of her father, with a caption that read, “Palestine is bleeding … another father killed by #Israel … another father carrying his child to a grave in #Gaza.”
The photo, however, was later identified as a 2006 Reuters photo. The girl died in a playground or car accident, not as a result of any actions taken by the IDF.
Yet, the Twitter message, which was re-tweeted by hundreds of other users, was highly instrumental in spreading a new wave of libels against the Israel Defense Forces.
Prosor sent a letter to the U.N. emergency coordinator, Valerie Amos, calling for Badawi’s immediate dismissal.
Prosor wrote that Badawi’s actions not only “violate conduct expected of a UN official,” but that she also “actively engaged in the demonization of Israel, a member state of the United Nations. Such actions contribute to incitement, conflict and, ultimately, violence,” according to Fox News, which obtained a copy of the letter.
“Although Ms. Badawi’s portrayal of this photo was clearly a blatant falsehood, her post became the top tweet for anything related to Gaza on Twitter,” Prosor affirmed.
Amos issued a reply saying, “It is regrettable that an OCHA staff member has posted information on her personal Twitter profile, which is both false and which reflects on issues that are related to her work. The opinions expressed in her tweets in no way reflect the views of OCHA, nor has it been sanctioned by OCHA.”
Badawi, who has neither retracted not apologized for her inaccurate tweet, will remain employed by the agency during an internal investigation, Fox News reported.

Netanyahu Lauds Evangelical Group for Support

Thank you for standing up for Israel,” Netanyahu says to rapturous applause as he speaks to CUFI in Jerusalem hotel.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu lavished praise on the Evangelical Christian movement, and on a mission of approximately 800 members of Pastor John Hagee’s Christians United for Israel (CUFI) organization, in Jerusalem on Sunday night.

“Thank you for standing up for Israel,” Netanyahu said to rapturous applause. “We are witnessing a dramatic transformation in the relationship between Christians and Jews, who are focusing now on the common values and the common future we both share.”

The prime minister also drew attention to what he described as threats to the Christian community across the Middle East, saying he was “proud that Israel is the only place in the Middle East where Christians are free to practice their faith in complete freedom.”

The CUFI mission – on its third visit to Israel – gave Netanyahu a euphoric welcome.

The evening was accompanied by the mellifluous sounds of a Southern gospel quartet and a glowing tribute from Hagee himself, who announced that his organization had reached one million members, making it the largest pro-Israel organization in the US.

Participants on the current mission paid almost $4,400 each to come on the tour.

Founded in 2006, CUFI is designed to provide a national association in the US for pro- Israel churches to support the country. It uses its members to mobilize support and lobby public officials and representatives to advance favorable public policy and sentiment for Israel.

Referring to the Iranian nuclear program, CUFI executive- director David Brog said that supporting Israel was of special importance for Christians at this time.

“At a juncture of such peril for Israel and the West, we are proud that we now have one million members working diligently for a strong US-Israel relationship,” Brog said. “We were gratified to be able to demonstrate our rock-solid support to Prime Minister Netanyahu tonight.”

Brog also sought to dispel concerns about negative theological motivations attributed by some to the Evangelical movement. He labeled the claim that Evangelicals support Israel in order to herald the return of Jesus and the conversion of Jews as “complete and utter nonsense,” and said such claims were based on “ignorance.”

Christians, he said, do not believe that anything on Earth can influence the messiah’s coming and that his arrival will be at a preordained time.

Instead, he said, Evangelicals support Israel because of a literalist interpretation of the Bible that views the promises made to the people of Israel as still intact – as opposed to ”Replacement Theology,” which is widely held by many other Christian denominations and posits that the Christian Church inherited the biblical promises to the Jewish people.

Brog added that this sentiment was combined with the belief that Israel’s cause was just, as well as a sense of indebtedness to the Jewish people in the wake of historic Christian anti-Semitism and persecution.

Christians Angry Over ‘Anti-Semitic’ Parley

Several Christian groups have expressed opposition to the Christ at the Checkpoint conference that has been taking place in Bethlehem during the past week, accusing it of promoting doctrines that have inspired anti-Semitism.

Bethlehem Bible College, an institute associated with the Evangelical Christian movement, organized the five-day conference.

Dr. Jürgen Bühler, executive director of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), said in a statement ahead of the event that the conference’s theological stance “can easily lend itself to anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda, as some of the Checkpoint speakers have proven in the past.”

The ICEJ, which is also an Evangelical organization, accused the conference of promoting a “cloaked” version of Replacement Theology, which says the Christian Church became the “new Israel” and all of God’s promises to the people of Israel were transferred to Christianity.

Bühler also criticized the neglect of “Christian friends of Israel... [for] our Arab brothers in the Holy Land and beyond,” arguing that being pro-Israel “does not mean being anti-Arab.”

Several Catholic leaders in Ireland also denounced the conference, claiming that it seeks to advance Replacement Theology.

Paddy Monaghan, a Catholic lay leader, said that leaders of Bethlehem Bible College have promoted Replacement Theology, and said that he and other Catholic leaders in Ireland “strongly oppose that doctrine.”

Additionally, a group of four Messianic Jewish groups issued a statement before the conference began, protesting the “supersessionist theology that underlies their conference agenda, and which has been a source of anti-Semitism and even anti-Jewish violence for centuries.”

Dr. Bishawa Awad, founder and president of Bethlehem Bible College, denied that the conference espouses Replacement Theology or that there was any political agenda.

“This is a Biblical conference, to study what the bible says about the land,” Awad told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. “Nothing at all has been mentioned about Replacement Theology or the destruction of Israel. These are unfounded claims.”

The aim of the conference is “to show Christians how they can bring peace to this part of the world and how Christians around the world can promote ways through which the two peoples can live together in peace and tranquillity,” Awad said.

According to a conference program, the assembly seeks to “expose the injustices of occupation and create awareness of the obstacles to reconciliation and peace,” and “present a coherent Biblical challenge to Christian Zionism and offer an alternative perspective.”

Awad said: “Many Christians support Israel whether it is right or wrong, but don’t look into the issues of peace and justice. If that’s being political then fine, but unfortunately, some people, instead of coming and listening and participating, just attack us. We want to have serious engagement with Zionist groups, and have open forum for ongoing dialogue. We may disagree but that doesn’t mean we are enemies and hate each other. As Christians, we love and we are called by Jesus to love even enemies.”

Among the speakers is British Pastor Rev. Stephen Sizer, who has spoken out harshly against Israel and met with Hezbollah military commander Sheikh Nabil, and Ben White, an anti-Zionist political commentator.

Recently, I travelled to South Africa to talk with Jewish and Christian groups and give them the Israeli perspective to counter the hate campaign that makes that country a leading hub in the delegitimisation efforts against Israel.
For decades, South Africa has been at the forefront of actions that demonise the Jewish State. From the infamous “Zionism is Racism” at the United Nations World Conference against Racism in Durban in 2001 to the inaccurate Goldstone Report, headed by the South African jurist, Richard Goldstone, and, more recently, the Russell Tribunal, a kangaroo court led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu that tried to railroad a guilty verdict on Israel for being “an Apartheid state,” South Africa has been the radical centre of anti-Israel activity.
I found that the “Hate Israel” movement is still viral in South Africa. Despite the abject failure of the Russell Tribunal, held in Cape Town, a couple of months earlier, the “Israel Apartheid Week” campus circus was getting into full swing while I was there. Regretably, I discovered that the South African Council of Churches had announced, in a public letter dated 24th February 2011, their endorsement of this event.
My talks included my DNA assessment of what drives organizations like the SACC and others to attack and isolate Israel, and only Israel, for approbation, when mayhem and murder is rampant across the Muslim world, in Africa and in Asia, and where Christians are prime targets and victims.

• Please pray for Israelis currently in bomb shelters, that God would send His comfort and protection as they wait for attacks to end. “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life” (Psalm 119:50).
• Pray for the safety of the Israel Defense Forces soldiers acting decisively to target terrorists ruthlessly attacking the Holy Land. “The Lord protects and preserves them – they are counted among the blessed in the land – he does not give them over to the desire of their foes” (Psalm 41:2).
• Praise God that the Iron Dome defense system has been working effectively, shooting down rockets and saving the lives of untold numbers of Israelis. “He guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones” (Proverbs 2:8).
• As international media continues to paint Israel as the aggressor simply for defending her people, please pray that the truth would prevail. “You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes” (Job 5:21).
• Pray for wisdom for Israeli leaders and for continued support from the U.S. government. “To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his” (Job 12:13).

JERUSALEM (AP) - He's considered to be one of the greatest scientists of all time. But Sir Isaac Newton was also an influential theologian who applied a scientific approach to the study of scripture, Hebrew and Jewish mysticism.
Now Israel's national library, an unlikely owner of a vast trove of Newton's writings, has digitized his theological collection - some 7,500 pages in Newton's own handwriting - and put it online. Among the yellowed texts are Newton's famous prediction of the apocalypse in 2060.
Newton revolutionized physics, mathematics and astronomy in the 17th and 18th century, laying the foundations for most of classical mechanics - with the principal of universal gravitation and the three laws of motion bearing his name.
However, the curator of Israel's national library's humanities collection said Newton was also a devout Christian who dealt far more in theology than he did in physics and believed that scripture provided a "code" to the natural world.
"Today, we tend to make a distinction between science and faith, but to Newton it was all part of the same world," said Milka Levy-Rubin. "He believed that careful study of holy texts was a type of science, that if analyzed correctly could predict what was to come."
So he learned how to read Hebrew, scrolled through the Bible and delved into the study of Jewish philosophy, the mysticism of Kabbalah and the Talmud - a compendium of Jewish oral law and stories about 1,500 years old.
For instance, Newton based his calculation on the end of days on information gleaned from the Book of Daniel, which projected the apocalypse 1,260 years later. Newton figured that this count began from the crowning of Charlemagne as Roman emperor in the year 800.
The papers cover topics such as interpretations of the Bible, theology, the history of ancient cultures, the Tabernacle and the Jewish Temple.
The collection also contains maps that Newton sketched to assist him in his calculations and his attempts to reveal the secret knowledge he believed was encrypted within.
He attempted to project what the end of days would look like, and the role Jews would play when it happened. Newton's objective curiosity in Judaism and the Holy Land contrasted with the anti-Jewish sentiment expressed by many leading Christian scholars of the era, Levy-Rubin said.
"He took a great interest in the Jews, and we found no negative expressions toward Jews in his writing," said Levy-Rubin. "He said the Jews would ultimately return to their land."
How his massive collection of work ended up in the Jewish state seems mystical in its own right.
Years after Newton's death in 1727, his descendants gave his scientific manuscripts to his alma mater, the University of Cambridge.
But the university rejected his nonscientific papers, so the family auctioned them off at Sotheby's in London in 1936. As chance would have it, London's other main auction house - Christie's - was selling a collection of Impressionist art the same day that attracted far more attention.
Only two serious bidders arrived for the Newton collection that day. The first was renowned British economist John Maynard Keynes, who bought Newton's alchemy manuscripts. The second was Abraham Shalom Yahuda - a Jewish Oriental Studies scholar - who got Newton's theological writings.
Yahuda's collection was bequeathed to the National Library of Israel in 1969, years after his death. In 2007, the library exhibited the papers for the first time and now they are available for all to see online.
The collection contains pages after pages of Newton's flowing cursive handwriting on fraying parchment in 18th-century English, with words like "similitudes," ''prophetique" and "Whence."
Two print versions in modern typeface are also available for easier reading: A "diplomatic" one that includes changes and corrections Newton made in the original manuscript, and a "clean" version that incorporates the corrections.
All of the papers are linked to the Newton Project, which is hosted by the University of Sussex and includes other collections of Newton's writings.
The Israeli library says the manuscripts help illuminate Newton's science and well as his persona.
"As far as Newton was concerned, his approach was that history was as much a science as physics. His world view was that his 'lab' for understanding history was the holy books," said Levy-Rubin. "His faith was no less important to him than his science."
