Stop Anti-Israel Movements on Our College Campuses

Arab Spring is turning to Arab Winter right before our eyes. Islamic extremism is on the move, and marching right next to it in a goosestep is Jew hatred!

But none of this should come as a surprise to followers of the Freedom Center and readers of FrontPage and Jihad Watch. We have been your early warning system about the sinister progress of the jihad, at home as well as abroad; about the intention of Islamic radicals to design a new holocaust; and about the way that America's fate and the fate of freedom itself is deeply connected to the fate of Israel.

Since 9/11, the Freedom Center has been deeply engaged in this war against Israel and America. Nowhere has the battle been more intense than on our college campuses. They have become the front lines of anti-Israel propaganda and Jew hatred. Lies about Israel's "oppression" and the victimhood of the Palestinians spread there like clouds of poison gas. The biggest of the big lies that dominate the discussion of the Mideast conflict in our universities is that Israel is occupying something called Palestine that rightfully belongs to people called Palestinians. This lie is so fundamental to the attack on Israel that I placed an ad called "The Palestinians' Case Against Israel is Based on a Genocidal Lie" earlier this year in the New York Times and several Jewish papers. This ad can put the Jew haters on our college campuses on the defensive. It can make their real objectives crystal clear and show that they want the destruction of the Jewish state far more than the creation of one for the Palestinians. This ad has already cleared the air. It can have an antiseptic effect on the toxic atmosphere created at our universities by the unholy alliance between Muslim radicals and the hard core left. These ads have an immediate effect, but to get these ads in 100 campuses papers across the country we need to raise $50,000 by Friday.

 David and Leah Ortiz left in the United States to share the good news of Christ with Jews and Muslims in Israel. The couple settled in the West Bank, and David has picked up some Arabic in his work with their Palestinian neighbors. "What they have done for years with Muslims-background Christians and Messianic Jews is very impressive," said a VOM worker who knows the family. As David and Leah shared the gospel of Jesus over years, they weathered threats and lived through the second Palestinian uprising. Activists threatened them and left anti-Christian literature throughout their neighborhood. Yet they remained in the West Bank, boldly preaching Jesus.
 But they faced a painful test of faith on March 20, 2008, when their son, Ami, was nearly killed in a bomb attack likely intend for David, his pastor father. That morning, Ami opened a gift basket that had been left in front of their apartment by an ultra-Orthodox Jewish nationalist. A bomb hidden in the basket exploded, destroying the apartment and tearing through Ami's body. When Ami arrived at the hospital, he couldn't see; his body was covered with burns and riddled with shrapnel.
 More than three years later, Leah wrote, "Ami lives with at least 100 shards of metal and glass still lodged in his body and eyes, scars from his neck down to his feet, and the loss of part of three toes. We still pray for complete restoration physically, but we can honestly say that in his mind, heart and spirit he is totally healed. To know him is to feel the miracle shining through his life...He is our hero!"
 The VOM worker said the family has stayed in the same West Bank apartment and continues to work with underground believers. "Their perspective on forgiveness, persecution and suffering is amazing," he added.
 And David's words reflect that forgiving attitude: "The Lord forgave David and many people in the Bible," he said. "My goal and my prayer for [the attacker] is that he will repent and be saved."
Point 1: Ami has endured 14 surgeries since the bombing. But he and his family have never even considered leaving their adopted home in the West Bank.
Point 2: The Jerusalem Alliance Church was burned in late October 2010. The church was near an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood.

Take Action For Israel 3 (URGENTLY)

Act Now! Urge President Obama to Oppose UN Recognition of a Palestinian State.

Later this month the Palestinian Authority intends to seek unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state from the United Nations. This Palestinian initiative rejects direct negotiations, violates past peace commitments, and risks renewed violence. And this appeal to the U.N. has nothing whatsoever to do with peace. It is simply a continuation of the Palestinian campaign to increase the international isolation and delegitimization of Israel. It must not succeed.
President Obama and members of his administration have indicated that the U.S. will veto any such resolution brought before the UN Security Council. But we need your help to ensure that President Obama will follow through on this commitment. Act now to urge President Obama to veto any such resolution at the UN Security Council.

We must also remind the President that a Security Council veto isn't enough. The Palestinians have also threatened to bring their demand for statehood to the U.N. General Assembly. While such a vote would have only symbolic value —the General Assembly does not have the power to recognize new nations -- the vote would still have great propaganda value.

The Obama Administration must not only vote against any such resolution in the General Assembly, but it must demand that our allies and all recipients of U.S. aid join us in our opposition. Thus our letter to the President demands that he commit the full diplomatic might of the United States to opposing any such resolution in the U.N. General Assembly.

President Obama must send a clear message that we will not reward the Palestinians for their obstruction and violation of past commitments. Ask President Obama to oppose UN recognition of a Palestinian state. It only takes a minute to stand with Israel.

As Hamas Rockets Continue to Target Israeli Citizens, The Fellowship Rushes $1 Million of Emergency Bomb Shelters to Israel

CHICAGO & JERUSALEM, August 29, 2011 — Responding to the escalation of attacks on southern Israel, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (IFCJ) is purchasing 100 bomb shelters for $1 million to be placed in areas targeted by terrorists in recent months.

“We are saving lives any way we can, wherever we can,” said Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, IFCJ founder and president. “The generosity of our donors throughout the United States and Canada makes it possible for Israelis — who must live with the threat of war and terrorist attack — to be protected while going about their daily lives.”

The mobile bomb shelters will be placed near schools and other public areas so they can be reached quickly in the event of an attack. After hearing a warning siren, people usually have only 15-20 seconds to get to the nearest shelter.

The prefabricated concrete bomb shelters will be installed as quickly as possible in at least 12 southern cities targeted by recent rocket attacks, including Ofakim, Ashkelon, Be’er Sheva, and Ashdod. Each shelter costs $10,000 and will accommodate approximately 20-30 people. There are at least 1 million people in need of access to emergency shelters in southern Israel.

In early August, Israel suffered one of its worst terrorist attacks in recent years. In a coordinated three-stage attack, eight Israelis were killed and another 30 injured. In the days that followed, more than 100 rockets were fired into Israel by terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza, sending hundreds of thousands of Israelis fleeing to public and private bomb shelters throughout the country, if and where they exist. Rockets and missiles continue to be launched into civilian areas on a near-daily basis.

With national security funds being diverted to defense needs and security for schools, officials at Israel’s Ministry of Home Front Defense asked Rabbi Eckstein for emergency assistance to purchase more bomb shelters for public areas. Since the Lebanon War, the IFCJ has funded the renovations or construction of 2,114 bomb shelters in the north and south regions hit by missile and rocket attacks.

“Our mission is to help the people of Israel in whatever way we can,” Rabbi Eckstein said, “beginning with their need for physical security and sustenance.”

The IFCJ also has committed more than $10 million this year to fund other security efforts in Israel. These include fortification of hospital trauma units where attack victims are treated; assistance to Israel Defense Forces soldiers, including those without families or whose families are in need; and helping soldiers with post-military education and job training programs.

Earlier this year, the IFCJ also provided funds for the renovation of 14 public bomb shelters in Be’er Sheva, and earmarked $450,000 for renovating or building operation command centers in 14 municipalities in terrorist-targeted regions in the north and the south. A number of municipalities also have received fire and security vehicles, thanks to IFCJ donors, most of whom are evangelical Christians.

As part of its mission to help Jews in need throughout the world, the IFCJ also supports security programs for Jewish institutions in Turkey, Morocco, the former Soviet Union, and other regions where Jewish schools, synagogues, and communities have been the target of terror attacks and bomb threats.

Re:  Prayer requests for Israel and for Ha'Shem's continued Blessing (Deut. 28:2)      Please keep in mind that it is God, not the stock market that provides for us.  Sometimes our faith may be weak or small, but we must avoid being skeptical of what God has already done for us and His provision and when our faith is weak, resources are low and our doubts are the strongest.  Remember, God can open the floodgates of heaven (Malachi 3:10-12).  We see this principle written clearly in 2 Kings 7:1-20 when Elisha told the people that God said he would deliver them when the situation seemed hopeless; then the king's officer said that it just couldn't happen!  Why (?), because his faith and hope were gone, but God's words came true anyway (Jer. 32:27).  One of the lessons being taught is that sometimes we become pre-occupied with the problems (No oil and gas has been found yet in commercial quantities in Zion's wells and that coupled with the current stock market conditions) will sometimes cause us to be overly concerned with these issues when we should be looking for opportunities and moving ahead (2 Kings 7:3-7).      So, instead of focusing on the negatives, we should develop an attitude of expectancy.  And if we say that God cannot rescue someone (or a company) or that a situation is impossible demonstrates a lack of faith in God's ability to do a miracle.  I want you all to know that I have seen God, over the past 30 years, do a lot of miracles for Zion and because of that we are quickly moving forward with our plans in Israel (Deut. 1:21).      We will be re-assessing our current areas and acquiring and analyzing new seismic data and we will be meeting with drilling contractors and working towards finalizing our plans to create Zion Drilling someday in Israel.  Part of our discussions will also include our planning a new three-well drilling program.  I feel that it is an absolute must, after we re-confirm where to drill, that we are able to continually drill wells in Israel without anymore lengthy or prolonged delays.  So, please be patient and we will provide you with new updates as we move forward.  Of course, the nation of Israel still needs your continuous prayers (and Zion requests them too) (Psalm 77:1).      I am sending you this email to encourage you all to continue to "Stand-fast" and don't waver or be discouraged (Joshua 1:6-9).
