Helping the Hungry

On behalf of innocent children who go to bed hungry every night …
the impoverished elderly — including Holocaust survivors near the end of their lives — who must choose between buying food and medicine …
and destitute families who struggle to simply put food on the table every day …
I urge you to make a very special gift to support IFCJ’s High Holy Days Campaign.
The High Holy Days that begin with Rosh Hashanah, and end with Yom Kippur, are the most significant holidays on the Jewish calendar. Yet this sacred time of year brings no relief from the heartbreaking poverty that so many face.
With your help, we will provide basic food staples and the special foods needed for observing the High Holy Days to more than 144,000 hungry Jewish people in Israel and in the former Soviet Union.
Every gift to IFCJ, large or small, will make a very meaningful difference.
It meant the world to Bracha Cohen — a precocious five-year-old from Israel.
Her parents work hard to provide her with a better life, but they barely earn enough to provide even the basic necessities.
“The food box that we received from IFCJ was a huge blessing,” says her mom, Irit.
With tears in her eyes she added, “Bracha went to school after Rosh Hashanah and told her friends that people in America love her and that is why she got special food for the holidays. This meal really made her feel valued. Thank you.”
There is perhaps no greater act of compassion than giving food to someone who is hungry — and no more essential time to do it than during this sacred time of year. Please help us reach as many people as possible.
With prayers for shalom, peace,
Rabbi Sig
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein
President
PS
As Jewish people around the world begin a new year, I pray for their safety and for the future of children like Bracha. Growing anti-Semitism worldwide makes this a dangerous time, and as tensions continue to rise, the work of IFCJ will be an even greater lifeline for the most vulnerable.
