Dignity

Fellowship Friend,
Right now, thousands of Jewish people in Israel are hungry. They are suffering. And they need your help.
With support from friends like you, IFCJ will provide basic food staples along with special foods required to celebrate the High Holy Days to over 90,000 destitute children, families, and the elderly — including Holocaust survivors who have no one to care for them.
The High Holy Days begin with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and end with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. These biblically based holidays, are the most significant on the Jewish calendar. And yet, this sacred season brings no relief from the ongoing struggle of devastating need for so many poor people in Israel.
People like Kinneret.
Kinneret is a widow and mother who lives in Lud, Israel. When her husband passed away, she suddenly found herself alone and unable to provide enough food and basic necessities for her two children. But thanks to dedicated donors like you, IFCJ was able to give Kinneret and her children a food box for the High Holy Days.
“Food for the holidays brought me the most joy ever, knowing that someone cares about me during this hard time and that I am not alone,” Kinneret says.
“Thank you so much,” she adds. “Without you the poor people in Israel would suffer and we appreciate so much that you think about us and help.”
Unfortunately, for needy families like Kinneret’s, this is less a time to retreat and reflect upon God than it is another chapter in a daily struggle for survival. However, you can make a meaningful difference in their lives by giving them the chance to observe the High Holy Days with dignity.
Thank you for taking these poverty-stricken people into your heart and helping them during this most sacred season. And may you be blessed, even as you have blessed God’s children.
With prayers for shalom, peace,
Rabbi Sig
Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein

PS
Our work on behalf of Israel’s poorest people has taken on added significance due to ongoing terror attacks. As tensions continue to rise, Israel needs all her resources to defend her people and has very little left to help impoverished Jewish families. By supporting IFCJ’s High Holy Days Campaign, you can provide basic staples along with special holiday foods that these families so urgently need right now
